baby belly

Yesterday Maya had some tummy issues- she pooped more than 10 times in 12 hours- which is way too much. She had her legs up like she was cramping and was crying. it was so sad. We changed her formula and i nursed her more because she was hungry after every poop! We didnt want her to get dehydrated either. Thankfully, today she seems much better. One poopy diaper after more than 12 hours. My heart aches when she is uncomfortable and cant tell me whats wrong.
Aunt Sharon and Unle Ira came for a visit yesterday. Maya and i enjoyed it so much. It gave them a tiny bit of practice for their double miracles that are arriving soon. My beautiful cousin Nicole is due to give birth to twin girls in April! Maya cant wait to meet her new cousins.

Maya is 29 days old!

I can't believe my baby girl is 4 weeks young already!
What a ride these last 4 weeks have been. Being a mom is quite amazing i feel VERY lucky to have this gift.
Her latest tricks? Holding her pacifier, holding her head up, and having some tummy time. She even kicks her legs during tummy time --looks like shes about ready to crawl!
Due to my wicked and uber painful case of mastitis in both breasts, my milk production has been slow and Maya didn't gain enough weight in her first 2 weeks of life, so we have had to supplement with cows milk based formula. She gets the best of both worlds.
She has been doing great since we started the formula and is up to 7 pounds 9 ounces as of her last appointment.
I keep sayng what a great sleeper she is and how i have to wake her for every feeding, and then on friday she stayed up from 8am to 10pm straight! NO SLEEP for her or me. That was not so fun. It is great that she's starting to stay up a little bit after each feeding though, not just passing out. It's nice to hang out with her. I just love to stare at her beautiful face.
When the sun is out i have been going for little walks and slowly going back out into the world. I went to the bank and the market both were sort of surreal really.
Pedja is back working full time - he only got 1 week off after she was born--and doing daddy duty at night. He and Maya have a great and special bond which is so sweet to watch. She is a daddy's girl for sure.

A couple of pictures: Proudly rockin' her Capricorn onesie- a gift from Auntie Bridgit
Enjoying time with her stuffed animal friends in her pack and play
The moment we met - she was a little blue but that quickly went away
Hanging out with daddy

Here she is!

Our beautiful baby girl Maya Milenkovic arrived a bit early at 38 weeks.
December 28 at 127pm. she was 19 inches and 6 lbs 14oz with a FULL head of hair!

My last day of work was December 23 and there was an awesome potluck to see me off.
On December 24 I had a few "cramps" that wrapped around my abdomen about 6 times through the night. Strange i thought.
On December 25 at the annual holiday party at B&B's, around 6pm i got them again and decided we needed to come home.

Around 1 am after they hadnt stopped at all i called UCLA to ask what this was exactly.
The resident doctor said i was in labor and these "cramps" were contractions, and to come in once these contractions were less than 5 minutes apart.
Well December 26 came and went and they were 10-20 minutes apart nonstop
And the same on december 27. That afternoon they were under 5 minutes apart so we went to the hospital. I was examined and was only 1 centimeter dialated, so I was sent home. Active labor is 4 centimeters or more and thats when you are admitted.
We got home around 7pm and from then until my water broke at 3am the contractions were about 2 minutes apart nonstop and rather intense.
We went back at 3am and i was 6 centimeters and was admitted on the spot.
I got an epideral as soon as possible. After 3 days of contractions I needed a break!
by about 9am it was time to push. Maya's head got stuck on my pelvic bone so the pushing lasted a little longer than anticipated by my midwife.
at 127pm she was born.
I had amazing support from my husband and my sister who were with me every push
She was quite jaundiced so her first week of life was a lot of doctors appointments and blood work which was rather stressful but she is much better now thankfully.
Today she is 14 days old!
