She's crafty
Maya is very ---how should i say--- smart for her age.
The reason we have to include formula in her diet is because nursing to her is "hypnotic relaxing and very comfortable" per the lactation consultant and she falls asleep within minutes of latching on. So she doesnt eat. So we have to supplement with formula.
Lately she has been covering her eyes with her arm when nursing so I cant see that she is sleeping. so I dont try and wake her up-which she doesnt like one bit.. See exhibit A.

random cuteness
#1 Kinda looks like she is flipping me off!
#2 Maya got some of what I call "BIG GIRL CLOTHES" from grandma and grandpa horwitz recently. I call them big girl clothes because they have 2 pieces. Baby clothes are onesies in my book :)
Here she is in the super cute pink and grey big girl outfit, but she was not happy when i took her pacifier from her to snap a pic quickly. I caught her right before she screamed and this one just makes me laugh out loud-- look at that face!
#3 Gotta love those teeny baby toes!
big girl!
Maya was slow with weight gain at the beginning of her life, but she has caught up.
last week at her check up she was 8 pounds 10 ounces!
can you see her belly in the bottom pic? oy! its so cute! shes even starting to get small rolls on her thighs and upper arms, but that belly is too much!
I had to include some shots of her sleeping because she makes us laugh. we wrap her like a baby veggie burrito (aka we swaddle her) but no mater how tight we wrap her, her arms end up out and up. ALWAYS. I think she may grow up to be a magician in Vegas and get out of straight jackets nightly with no problem. In the middle pic she was completely wrapped before she fell asleep. BTW these swaddle blankets we got as part of an awesome generous gift from one of my clients are the absolute BEST. The company is adan and anais if you are interested. I highly recommend them.
I caught her and daddy napping together, and as you can see (barely i know its dark) in the top pic, they are 2 peas in a pod --both sleeping with their arms up.
bugaboo
We were waiting for Maya to be 6 weeks old before taking her out this winter, and the time has come.
The big news of the week is Maya went for her first walk! It was a beautiful day on Sunday so we took her out around the neighborhood in her awesome bugaboo stroller. It really is my favorite thing of all the groovy baby stuff we have, and I have been so looking forward to using it. Thanks to grandma friedman for helping make it possible to get it! She promptly fell asleep after a few blocks. thats the last photo out in front of our house. her buddy Jacques the peacock was there to keep her company.
The next day it was still sunny so we went for a walk on the Venice boardwalk. I had a great time (mommy hasnt been out in a LONG time), and she fell asleep again. The middle pic is me and Maya at the beach. She then had enough of the bugaboo, and wanted to be up and look around, so thats dad walking with her along the boardwalk in the top picture.
.
She got these really teeny , super cute headbands from grandma horwitz. i had to include a pic of her rockin' the pink one with a smile.
