Good Morning!

Maya had french toast and yogurt for breakfast. Can you see it all over her tray?
When she is done, she throws anything within her reach on the floor so there is NO mistaking that she is done.
Figure 2 the spoon.
Figure 1 the yogurt container.

Did I mention she doesn't want to sit in her hichair anymore? She wants to be in the chairs that we all sit in. So I am using her portable hichair/booster and she is much happier.

more zoo

When she needs a break, she looks up at Pedja and puts both her arms up, here she is on a break at the Lemur exhibit.
Snack break for everyone.
This is what happens when Maya wants out of her stroller to walk and mama says no.

Zoo

Here is Maya in her stroller -which only lasted a very few minutes - flashing her hand sign 1 handed. I've noticed that it kinda looks like a W for "westside" as in the west coast is the best coast. Word.
And here she is going uphill in her new hat with sun protection. I can't believe she wore it for longer than 4 seconds honestly. I wanted to get a shot from the back because she had the cutest ruffle-bum shorts on.

More of Maya's first walk

I can only post a couple per blog entry for some reason.
I can't figure this whole computer thing out I feel like a dinosaur sometimes.

Anyways, her favorite part of the walk was going up and down the stairs at the end of it. After a few tries she got the hang of it.

Maya's first walk

Here she is!
In the elevator, coming down the front stairs, and going down the street.
She is pointing to a dog that was walking towards her.
Here is the background on that one: On our corner is a dog grooming place, and a super nice lady works there that walks them all for bathroom breaks. I met her when I was pregnant walking home from work, she always complemented my hair so I instantly loved her. Essentially she has known Maya since then, and of course she was out walking a dog during Maya's first walk. She was also very proud of her.
I was taking the photos -and crying --but just a little bit. I can't believe how grown up she is.

these boots are made for walkin'

Pedja decided to take Maya for a walk on Thursday. By walk I mean let her walk on the sidewalk.
It was her very first time, and ever since then if we go out, she only wants to walk. No stroller, no ergo, not on my hip, nada.
Today at the zoo she walked most of the time, and even uphill for quite a while.
Oh and I forgot to mention, she will only walk holding Pedja's hand. If I try to walk with her she sits on the ground and cries.
I will post photos soon.

back in the saddle

I am so happy to report Maya and I did not cough once today, nor did our noses run!
Hooray!
We celebrated by going to the LA Zoo- along with 2,000 others on this beautiful sunny March day.
It was fantastic.
I will post pictures soon, Luka was the designated documentarian.

roots rock reggae

Maya was feelin' the reggae vibe yesterday with her red gold and green headband.
She then stacked her red gold and green discs on her princess chair, IRIE!
That is her latest accomplishment, stacking all sorts of things.

orange balloon

Yesterday was our first outing to my annual eye exam. My vision is improving since I am not on the computer 8 plus hours a day working at the travel agency. I only have to wear my glasses if I am reading or on the computer extensively.
Maya was in her stroller during the exam, and I wish I had my camera.
She picked up a travel and leisure magazine from the rack next to her and read the whole time. She was gentle with it and didn't rip any of the pages. It made me SO proud.
After the exam Dr. C gave her an orange balloon, and she played with it until she went to sleep last night. She held it while playing with other things, while sitting in her princess chair, while dancing, it was the highlight of her week so far.
We are both getting better. She only coughed once today so far and I only wiped her nose once too.
I am not coughing much at all, but still can't hear out of my left ear.

yo yo yo!

So the other day Maya woke up, sat up in bed and flashed this sign to Luka and I.
We were cracking up, It was so cute, and out of nowhere.
She now does it all the time.
Actually, we are all walking around flashing it to eachother.

Say cheese!

Maya took this picture of me yesterday.
NOT the most flattering, but I think she may have an artsy eye.

happy baby!

more cowbell!

My friend Melissa gave me this cowbell from India, and we have it hanging on one of our doors.
Now that Maya is walking, she takes cruises all over the house, and found it in unchartered territory last week.
Once she found it, it was entertainment for 2 straight days.
She discovered it's many uses aside from being just a bell for cows, including a purse, a snack, and a musical instrument.

Princess chair

Maya got this Disney princess chair for her birthday from bubbie Sandy, a dear friend of my mom.
She loves to sit in it and read, or tuck stuff into the sides while she's sitting in it.
She really spends quite a bit of time in it.

These are the precious faces I am lucky to wake up to every day.
This was during my birthday breakfast of vegan belgian waffles.
