Someone's in the kitchen with Maya part II

Maya is so helpful in the kitchen. She helps unload the dishwasher, takes food in and out of the pantry, hands me the table cleaner after each meal. Its great.
When I have something in the oven, she likes to play with my silicone oven mits.
She puts them on and then goes over to the oven and points and makes her little talking sound

First drawing

I always hoped Maya would follow in the incredibly artistic footsteps of her brother, and enjoy drawing as much as he does.
The other day she pointed to a picture of some crayons in a book, so I went and got her a piece of paper and a green crayon.
Here is the artist at work and her first masterpiece.
I noticed she taps the crayon on the paper, she doesn't really draw lines yet-and maybe she never will.
Perhaps she is channeling Van Gogh.

ANTM

Maya LOVES these TOMS shoes of mine. She gets them from my closet every day and puts them on.
I can not tell you how proud I am that my 17month old girl can walk all through the house in her moms wedges without falling. I think I have my little "America's Next Top Model"

Graduation day! Part II

Here are a few more graduation day photos.
In the prior post there is one of a large picture frame. That was our gift to Jackie
We made a donation to the Children's Hospital LA in her honor. It is the Andy Warhol Lifesavers, and inside each hole are the kids pictures. It is hard to see but it turned out REALLY cute.

Graduation day!

Yesterday was Maya's graduation from our Mommy and Me class.
It was very special and quite bittersweet for me.
Jackie (the teacher) had us carry them around the room to the graduation song-the same one from college.
She then handed out GRADUATE t-shirts, and then the ceremony began.
Each child sat at the top of the slide while everyone sang "happy graduation day" to the tune of "happy birthday".
They then got a graduation scroll, and slid down. Maya said "woooaaa" right on cue when she slid down and it was adorable I must say. I of course was crying through the whole thing.
After everyone was done she handed out goldfish crackers and donut holes and we all said our goodbye's .
Before we left Jackie noted that we have the most expectant moms of all her classes -5 out of 12- and NO I am not one of them!
I put Maya in a precious dress that she had never worn before from her friends Violet and Julian-they are the best dressed twins we have ever seen.

Dental Floss

I know its blurry, but yes my daughter is flossing.
Every morning, just like her mama.
I believe oral hygiene is VERY important.

Ms. Organization

This is what Maya did during our shower this morning.
Notice how they are all facing the same direction?

I want to wear this!

My little fashionista went to her drawers yesterday, took out this lovely purple shirt, handed it to me, and then started tapping her chest.

I was quite impressed that A) she has such great taste in clothes, and B), she knew it was a shirt and C) that it goes on her chest.

little red toilet

Maya now grabs her diaper when she's wet and makes a noise so I know to change her.
If she has no clothes on, she will take her diaper off, put it in the trash, and then go and get a clean one out of her changing table.
She will then hand it to me and lay down in front of me.

I know toilet training is a long way off, but since she gives us these signals, we thought we would go ahead and get her a little toilet of her own, just so it's around and she gets used to it.

Well she decided it made a better home for the rubber ducky collection.

Duck Flamily

We had a wonderful visit Friday with Sheareen, her husband Alex (aka #1 dad), and their daughter Farrin.
The last time we were together, I went to Oregon to visit them after Farrin was born, and that has been over 2 years.
Farrin and Maya had lots of fun playing together, and spent most of their time in our bathroom with my rubber ducky collection.
They lined them up, grouped them together, moved them from the bathroom to the bedroom and back again as a great team.
Farrin is talking up a storm and said "flamily" instead of "family" when referring to groups of things. It was so cute.

I love these slippers!

My dear friend Kelli brought Maya these adorable slippers all the way from Ireland.
They finally fit.

Boom!

We were out for a 5 minute walk and Maya managed to fall and scrape her left knee twice.
OUCH.

Oh, and I don't know if you know this but I collect funny band-aids.
These are red and say SHIT! in white all over them.

Thursday

Every Thursday afternoon we meet grama nancy for a park playdate and picnic.
She found this lovely park that is 98% shade all because of 3 HUGE trees, this is one of them.
Maya spends her time on the swing and the slide only.
She has no interest in anything else yet.

BLUE

I just realized everything is blue in this picture!

3 wheels for Maya

We went to a fundraising yard sale at one of the co-op preschools I toured and scored some great stuff. We haven't set up the water table yet, but I know it will be a hit when it warms up this summer.
Maya's favorite so far is this tricycle, followed by a bunch of hot wheels cars.
She asks to go outside numerous times a day for a ride on the balcony.

4 wheels for Maya

skateboarding seems to run in the family.

canteloupe

the edible garden

Pedja and Luka planted another fantastic garden this year, and so far we have ALOT of Radishes.
Here's Luka with the loot.
Maya also helps by watering every night.

family day

We went down to the 3rd street promenade for a walk in this nice weather.

DIY

Maya is a real DIY fashionista.
Here she used my Halloween cookie cutters as posh bracelettes.
